The 2024 growing season has been a wonderful, gentle, and slow spring which makes for the best pomades…the blooms were tremendous and I have a surplus of very true-to-the-flower, lightly fragrant, organic lilac pomade available. my Lilac Enfleurage organic pomade is a beautiful lightly fragrant extraction of living lilac flowers as they breathe their fragrance in to the vegetal butters... it is an aromatherapy experience, uplifting and soft, reminiscent of our favorite memories. it is also a moisturizing, and soothing facial and skincare element to my daily self care routine.

Enfleurage is the ancient craft whereby a solid butter is used to capture the fresh exhaling scent of living flowers. Everyday I lay fresh florets on the bed of palm and change them continually every 24 hours until the flowering is finished at the farm.

Organic and sustainably grown RSPO Palm Kernel Oil is used because it is the oil most closely resembling our own sebum, and has natural antioxidants and naturally occurring vitamin A. It is called a ‘dry oil’ and is soft and melts easily at 78 degrees Fahrenheit. It goes on smoothly, lightly, and does not feel greasy.

Organic Palm Kernel Oil captures the scent so perfectly and preserves the essence for many years. Pomades have been found in Egyptian tombs that still retain their original fragrance. Shelf life if kept cool and dry, might be 1000 years.

Enfleurage is a labor intensive method used to extract the scent of lilacs. Lilac cannot be steam distilled like, for instance, lavender. Heat and steam will destroy the scent of lilacs. Lilac scented candles, soaps, and perfumes, may smell amazingly similar to the real thing, but are all synthetically produced and do not embody the aromatherapy qualities of a natural extract. Still, some prefer the bigger more forceful scents of synthetics and that’s great. There is room for us all in this magnificent world.
